Sometimes in life, it is more important that we finish the race than finish the race in first place. In an emotional and amazing feat of the human spirit, Derek Redmond showcased that very importance when in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he tore his hamstring in the 400 metres semi-final but fought through his pain to finish the race. A true competitor competes against themselves- against the hardship, the trials and obstacles that lie between them and their goal. Like the torn hamstring Redmond battled with, so many times our biggest challenge is overcoming something within ourselves.

Persevere in what you do. Finish the race no matter what.
